The Kenya Footballers Welfare Association, popularly known as KEFWA, is a welfare union for professional football players.
As a union, our mandate is to advocate for players’ rights and the welfare of both men and women in Kenya. Why is it therefore important for professional players to register as members of the union?
“Our players need to realize the opportunities we offer and grab them sooner,” says the KEFWA Recruitment and Welfare Officer Victor Ashinga.
KEFWA Membership Benefits includes;
_Opportunity for Education through education Scholarships program.
Free Legal representation for contracted players, including lawyer services.
Linkages with clubs for non-contracted players in our program.
Empowerment and capacity-building programs include Mind the Gap, Play My Part, Facelift, Road to Recovery, Mental Health, Personal Branding, Sensitization on the Maternity Policy, and Menstrual Health Hygiene Management (MHHM) among others.
Benevolent and Welfare Support.
According to Ashinga, all members have an equal chance in the opportunities KEFWA offers its members.
“We believe in egalitarianism and all our members have the right to benefit from the services we render,” he noted.
As part of efforts from KEFWA to reach out to members, we have recruitment drives countrywide for the clubs.
“Registration also helps us as a union to have updated databases for members, which is very important i.e. for those that make transfers in season,” Ashinga said.
