Community’ mourns the death of a character.

No story had an impact on a community like the death of Erick Mwemba,Mwatate United FC defender.

Erick ‘Oindo’ Mwemba also known as Gor lost his life while swimming with his teammates in a pool due to muscle strains. The reports all told the story of a young man who cared deeply for his family, friends and Club.

“Erick will be remembered as a hardworking and dedicated player whose commitment to the game is something to be emulated by the upcoming generation. He has been performing tremendously and his contribution to the game was high,A humble and disciplined player,destined for greater things. He will be missed by many,” Said Chairman,James Mbaraka.

Investor,Friend,Footballer: The entrepreneurial second act of Erick Mwemba.

Football leaves us with unforgettable moments, victories and joys, game after game. However, sometimes it has it’s sad and impacting moments.

Most footballers are known to prefer remaining within the profession even after retiring, however, these modern-day masters of the beautiful game have expanded their horizons as they hustle beyond the sport.

Most of them like Erick Mwamba have taken on other tasks when they are not on the pitch with some turning into money minting ventures.

With the sports fraternity in the country undergoing a paradigm shift. When not in the pitch,Erick ran a successful Mitumba shop in town whereby he led and guided a number of young generations and mostly his Mwatate United football club teammates on how to source for money without engaging in unlawful acts like crime and robbery among others. He had encouraged most of his teammates to venture into other side hustles other than depending on one source of money like the salary and be able to take care of their families or set aside funds to further increase in the stock.

Hailing from humble beginnings, Erick’s good deeds is all out there for people to see. Helping the poor in their communities, in his own village, here in Mwatate town and the nearby hood.He engaged with everybody without any limits and that’s why he was joy to watch him play and a ‘darling’ to everyone wherever he was.”said one the business person.

It’s such a tragic end,Many who watched him, especially fans of Mwatate have been pouring out their grief.Many remember him for his good deeds to the Community and the Mwatate United Football team, he had mingled every person.

Erick was team leader, A friend to many and always happy. Playing for the team and all the things he has done for the club is something to be emulated by many. The motivation he used to give us and his friends is quite helpful.He will be remembered for the rest of our lives. He is gone but he is with us in spirit. He was even more than a football player,His name will forever be in our hearts because he has helped us a lot,both on and off the pitch.” said Farouk his Captain.

Surely he will be missed.
