FIFPRO 2023 MERIT AWARDS- KENYAN PLAYER CHRISTINE “KACH” NGOIZI WINS PLAYER ACTIVISM AWARD

Kenya Police Bullets forward Christine Ngoizi alias ‘Kach’ has won the FIFPRO Player Activism Award during the General Assembly in Cape Town,South Africa. A bonafide KEFWA member, Ngoizi has been an influential voice for intersex footballers through our Football for Equality program, championing respect for all in the feld.

Ngoizi was also recently honored as the East Africa Intersex Human Rights Defender by Tacef, a testament to her unwavering commitment to safeguarding rights and respect for all through football.

“I think globally the issue of intersex players is not particularly high on the agenda. Many people believe, falsely, that it is covered by LGBTQIA+ issues. They categorise us without knowing our suffering, without knowing that there is this unique condition which is inborn. There are many intersex footballers who are not willing to come out and I hope this award will help them to do so,” she noted while speaking to FIFPRO.

“We go out to different communities and sensitize them on matters regarding intersex in sport. Kenya is one of the leading countries in Africa, and even the world, when it comes to recognition of intersex rights, including being recognized by the Children’s Act of 2022,” Ngoizi added.
