“WE ARE COMMITTED TO SAFEGUARDING OUR MEMBERS’ INTERESTS,” NOTES KEFWA WELFARE OFFICER BENARD MANG’OLI

In the world of Kenyan football, where passion meets talent, there exists an unwavering commitment to the players who grace the pitch week in and week out. It’s a commitment that transcends the final whistle, one that seeks to protect, empower, and uplift those whose talents enrich our nation’s favorite sport.

“At KEFWA, our mission is clear: to champion the rights and welfare of professional football players in Kenya, both men and women. As the Welfare Department, we’re here to share our story, our mission, and why every footballer in Kenya should consider becoming a proud member of our union,” notes Benard Mangoli, the departmental head.

According to the former AFC Leopards FC speedy winger, players need to realize the opportunities the Union offers and grab them sooner

Some of the benefits that members are privileged to enjoy include:

1. Education Scholarships:

“Knowledge is power, and we firmly believe in empowering our members. Through our education scholarships program, we provide a pathway to knowledge, opening doors to a brighter future beyond the field. This is why we have been in partnerships with esteemed institutions like Zetech University,” notes Mang’oli.

2. Legal Representation:

“We all clearly understand the nature of our local clubs. Contracts can be complex, but the rights of our players should never be in question. As a KEFWA member, you’ll enjoy the peace of mind that comes with free legal representation, ensuring your interests are safeguarded every step of the way,” stated the welfare officer.

3. Club Linkages:

“One of the challenges our members have been facing is to get signed up again mostly when they are recovering from injuries, out of form, or off-season. Our non-contracted players’ program offers invaluable connections with clubs, coaches, and team officials, creating opportunities to further your football career,” reveals Mang’oli.

4. Empowerment and Capacity Building:

“As a union, we have created a comprehensive suite of programs purposely meant to empower our members including “Mind the Gap,” “Play My Part,” “Facelift,” “Road to Recovery,” “Mental Health,” “Personal Branding,” “Sensitization on the Maternity Policy,” and “Menstrual Health Hygiene Management (MHHM), among others. We don’t just care about your performance on the pitch; we’re dedicated to your holistic growth,” he added.

5. Benevolent and Welfare Support:

“Life throws curveballs, and when it does, KEFWA stands by its members. Our benevolent and welfare support ensures you’re never alone in times of need,” Mang’oli further adds.

According to the welfare department, they believe in equality, and opportunities are offered to interested and capable members, without prejudice or bias.

“We believe in egalitarianism, and all our members have the right to benefit from the services we render. At KEFWA, we level the playing field, ensuring equal access to opportunities for every member,” further added Mang’oli with a parting shot.
