In anticipation of the upcoming season, we had the honor of engaging with our esteemed members, AFC Leopards SC, during a visit to their training grounds in Nairobi.
Beyond emphasizing the significance of KEFWA membership, our discussions revolved around a critical issue – the ongoing battle against Fake agents, a pressing concern that has inflicted hardship upon numerous players in Kenya.
In partnership with FIFPRO and FIFPRO Africa, and in collaboration with the Didier Drogba Foundation and the International Labour Organization (ILO), we proudly unveiled an awareness campaign. This initiative aims to shed light on the plight of African players who find themselves targeted and deceived by individuals masquerading as agents.
Victor Ashinga, the Legal Department Officer at KEFWA, assures that these campaigns will traverse all corners of the nation, reinforcing the safety net for players and preventing them from falling victim to such schemes.
As the custodians of professional football players’ rights and well-being, our commitment is unwavering. During this transfer period, we stand resolute in our support, equipping our members with the knowledge and tools necessary to shield themselves against unscrupulous entities preying on their aspirations, as aptly stated by Ashinga.
Furthermore, players are urged to exercise caution: refrain from making payments to agents prior to contract signings, seek legal counsel before inking any agreements, and promptly connect with KEFWA or FIFPRO for expert assistance.
Together, let’s ensure the welfare of players remains paramount. #PlayersWelfareKE
